BLANCHARD - Families farmed north of Beaver Crossing PO, in Precinct L, Seward Co, before 1880 Census
and after 1890. Parents Alfred (b1804) & Lucinda Blanchard, and married oldest son Edmund Lewis Blanchard
(b1836) & wife Anna, from Dodge Co, WI, settled between 1870 and 1880 on adjacent farms in Precinct L.
Edmund's family included WI-born young sons Howard, William, Merritt, and Perry (b 1865, 1872, 1875. 1877).
The NE State Gazetteer, 1890 Farmers List, mentions only the E.L. Blanchard household. The elder Blanchards,
Alfred & Lucinda, must have died in Seward Co, before 1890; (-living with them in 1880 was a WI-born
granddaughter Cloraminda 'Minnie' Minnick, 13). However, by 1900, only William Blanchard, now a jeweler,
with his mother Anna Blanchard were back in WI, at Fondulac, and William's brother Howard, now a druggist,
with his NE-born wife were also in WI, at Milwaukee. The MYSTERY is: What happened to their Blanchard kin
in Seward Co, NE, whom I do not find anywhere in the indexed 1900 Census? Between 1880 and 1890 in Seward
Co, William's grandparents Alfred & Lucinda Blanchard must have died. What local cemetery might hold these
and other Blanchard graves? -And between 1890 and 1899 what must have happened to William's father Edmund,
and his sons, Merritt and Perry? What were the Section-Township-Range locations of the Alfred & Edmund
Blanchard farms in Precinct L? What calamity might have befallen Edmund Blanchard and sons Merritt & Perry
between 1890 and 1900? (-Edmund's son William Blanchard later named HIS three sons Merritt, Howard, and
Perry after his brothers, their uncles.)

BRYM - Hraban & Brym families in Seward County Nebraska. We are looking for family
members of the Jarvis or James & Anna Hraban
family that came to Seward County NB in 1870 from Bohemia/Austria. We
have the information forward, just looking to tie up the loose ends and
connect this family to the other known Hrabans from NB that later went to
MN & WI. Anna is listed as being born in Nebraska with her parents having
been born in Austria/Bohemia. We have some conflicting informatin
regarding the first name of the head of
household. The 1900 census transcription shows the name as being Jervis or
Jarvis, and the same name for the one son, however, if you look it hard
enough, it could be James. The 1910 census is clearly James as well as the
son's name. So either the first census is incorrect or the names were
changed upon naturalization. The immigration date is 1870, and place of
birth is listed Bohemia and later
as Austria...which were pretty interchangable terms we are finding. This
head of household James/Jervis died sometime after 1900 and before 1910
as his wife Anna is remarried to a neighbor by the name of Anton Brym, also
from Bohemia. The Brym's are later listed has Bryan....so I really have no
idea which one is correct. This line is a new one for us to be working on.
James/Jervis and Anna had the following children:
James Hraban b. 1892
Frank J. Hraban b 1894/1895
Anna Hraban b. 1896/1897
Mary Hraban b 1901
We would love to hear from you, even if you are not sure. Everything has to
start somewhere, don't be shy or worry about being wrong, we are wrong lots
of times in our genealogy. We just keep trying.

HIGHLAND - looking for information on Samuel Highland(s). He
had a harness shop, worked as a harness maker in Tamora in 1890. He
married Anna Lyon 24 Dec 1890 in Gage County, was listed in the 1880
year census for Gage county as a farmer. He obviously moved from the
Beatrice area to Tamora to open up his shop. He is not listed in any
other listing I can find in Seward County, not even in cemetary
records. My family history would place him being born in Pennsylvania sometime in
the early 1830s. I suspect he is the brother of Robert Highland born near or in
Harrisburg, PA, whom is my g-grandfather.
